After an exciting development earlier this month, the planning phase of the newly renamed Vivas Palm Park improvement project is underway.
Last week, Isabel Soto, Project Manager for the Naples Botanical Garden, and Nick Ewy, the Garden’s Director of Collections, carried out a full assessment and inventory of the 50+ trees in Downtown Fort Myers’ Vivas Palm Park.
In addition to identifying and mapping each tree in the park, Isabel and Nick gave each specimen a full check-up, from overall health – treetop to bottom – right down to the spelling on each and every name plate. In all, only a handful of trees appeared to be in poor or declining health.
With the expertise of the Garden and Camille Goodin, Landscape Architect with Baker Barrios Architects, and in collaboration with the City of Fort Myers, a full plan is beginning to take shape. More details are expected in June.
